Modern Philology

The degree course in Modern Philology form competent graduates on the most important issues related to language and literature, both diachronic, in different historical periods, both in diatopia, in different cultures and regions in and outside Europe. Graduates in Modern Philology must also know the methods and ways of thinking of the literary and linguistic research. As part of the national literature, you will be given historical notions, textual and formal, so as to ensure a level of knowledge and consistent high quality of all aspects of the Italian literary heritage. Particular care is applied to the connection methods and linguistic tools and philological updated, turning to the more complete and adequate preparation for teaching literature, the advanced treatment of literary texts and their literary production, not forgetting the importance of adequate knowledge of Latin language and literature. Special care also addresses the need to include the literary, linguistic and critical in a broader knowledge of historical, philosophical, historical and artistic. It also seeks to encourage the achievement of advanced cultural skills from the point of view of literary communication of modern and contemporary art, in his deep links European and international, giving ample space to foreign languages ​​and literature and comparative studies, to be expendable in professionalism Italian and foreign cultural institutions, public and private.
To this end, an agreement was also signed with the University "Paris Sorbonne" to enable students to achieve an Italian and French CODIPLOMA of DEGREE ITALIAN-FRENCH, which applies to both countries and that will be activated concurrently in the Course of Modern Philology BIENNIO in 2014/2016. Obviously Codiploma is dedicated only to students who are familiar with the French language.
Graduates in modern philology, of course prepared to take (after training) the activities of teachers in secondary schools and high schools, may also, subject to competition or enrollment on the professional, where required, to assume positions of responsibility in institutions (state archives , libraries, superintendencies), in cultural centers, foundations, publishing houses, editorial offices, etc .; functions and advisory services in relation to the promotion and dissemination of literature, language, civilization and modern cultures at consultancy firms, publishing editors, documentation centers, radio and television. The wide range of topics covered and the excellent training offered to writing with the work of the thesis provide an adequate preparation to undertake the journalistic profession (after the exam and professional registration).
